Bad Batch: Fennec Shand Proves He’s One of the Galaxy’s Best Bounty Hunters

This week in Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Fennec Shand beats and outwits the legendary bounty hunter, proving that he’s one of the best in the galaxy.

Last week’s Star Wars: The Bad Batch episode almost ended with a broken heart. Hunter is shot by Cad Bane, and Omega is taken by a famous bounty hunter. “Bounty Lost” picks up seconds after that, with Crosshair chasing the Clone Force 99 shuttle. The only problem is that Cad Bane has jumped to the speed of light, and Bad Batch has no way of knowing where he’s taking Omega.

As it turned out, Bane was arranged to meet at an abandoned Kaminoan facility outside the world because the Kaminoans were trying to hide their contingency plans. Taun We were supposed to take Omega and give him unmarked credit, but when Bane arrived, there was a problem. He had recaptured the escaped Omega when they heard blaster fire and found Taun We dead. Fennec Shand is there, and he wants Omega too.

As the best bounty hunter in the galaxy, Bane is almost amused that Shand challenges him. He even gave her a brief chance to leave unscathed, as she told him, “You don’t have the experience to fight me.” However, when Shand refuses to comply and rewards him for his lawful kidnapping, Bane springs into action. He had no choice but to take the credit, so he decided to kill the new bounty hunter.

Shand, however, is determined to survive and prove his skills at the same time. He and Bane traded several near misses with their blaster, then he lures her into a dark corridor where she has planted a thermal detonator. Bane was thrown back by the explosion and was instantly paralyzed. So, Shand takes off after Omega’s running away.

When he finds a female clone, Shand tells him he wants to help, and as it turns out, he’s telling the truth. Later in the episode, it was revealed that Nala Se had secretly hired Shand to keep Omega away from Lama Su, the Kaminoan prime minister, but Omega did not buy it. He traps Shand under the corpse of a dead Kaminoan clone, then flees the scene after finding a way to send a signal to his friends in Bad Batch.

Shortly after, Bane finds Omega, and once again, Shand comes to his rescue. He disarms Bane, and the two bounty hunters engage in a brutal hand-to-hand combat fight. Bane tries to gain an advantage with a flamethrower on his wrist, but he’s still tied up and falls in the sky, only saving himself with a jet in his boots. During their fight, Omega made his escape in a flight pod and was saved in no time by his friends. Bane returns to his ship to chase them, but he can’t because Shand finds a way to sabotage him.

By the end of the Bad Batch episode, Shand has proven his worth as a bounty hunter for hire. He and Omega are both still alive while Bane, one of the best bounty hunters in Star Wars, loses and loses. He beat him three times. Shand may be new to bounty hunting, but he has a knack for it.

Created by Dave Filoni, Star Wars: The Bad Batch stars Dee Bradley Baker, Andrew Kishino, and Ming-Na Wen. New episodes air Fridays on Disney+.
