The directorial duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, best known for his hit film ‘Bad Boys for Life’ (2020), have agreed to direct the DC Warner Bros. character ‘Batgirl‘. The film will focus on Barbara Gordon, daughter of Gotham City’s police commissioner, James Gordon.
Finally the film project ‘Batgirl’ has found a director, not just one person but two directors.
Director duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, also known for their 2020 hit film ‘Bad Boys for Life’, have agreed to direct the DC Warner Bros. feature ‘Batgirl’. The film will focus on Barbra Gordon, daughter of Gotham City’s police commissioner, James Gordon.
Arbi and Bilall will also be accompanied by Christina Hodson as the scriptwriter. Christina Hodson herself has experience writing scripts for superhero films such as ‘Bumblebee’, ‘Birds of Prey’ and ‘The Flash’. Meanwhile, Kristina Burr, who is preparing to release her film ‘Cruella’ this month, will be the producer. ‘Batgirl’ is set to hit HBO Max.
The character Batgirl was first introduced in 1961 as Betty Kane. However, the character of Betty Kane was changed in 1967 to Barbara Gordon by television executives who wanted to attract a female audience to the ‘Batman’ TV Series but then stalled in its third season. Yvonne Craig had previously played this character, followed by Alicia Silverstone in Joel Schumacher’s 1997 film ‘Batman & Robin’.
Previously, this film took Joss Whedon as writer and director. However, he left the project in April 2018, citing that he failed to develop a compelling story.

Adil and Bilall have contagious energy of passion and joy, making them the perfect directors for this project. And I’m just excited to be a part of the super cool DC Universe.”
Their film career started with European Thriller Films and directed an episode of the FX crime drama ‘Snowfall’. But the film that managed to make them even more known as the third Bad Boys film, ‘Bad Boys for Life’ in 2020.
The action film ‘Bad Boys’ has been stuck in development for many years, having last been produced in 2003. However, this director duo managed to revive the title of this film with a powerful engine and was able to revive the old film franchise.
The third ‘Bad Boys’ film is a film that can garner a lot of good reviews compared to its previous films. In addition, this film also managed to become an American film with the highest-grossing this year.
Apart from the success of the film ‘Bad Boys’, they are also co-showrunners of the Marvel series, ‘Ms. Marvel, where they also directed the premiere and final episodes of the series, which just ended a few weeks ago.
El Arbi and Fallah are currently in the production stages of a family drama called ‘Rebel’ which is driven by song, rap, and dance.
