Facing Germany at Euro 2020, Portugal is asked to continue to be vigilant

Ruben Dias asked Portugal to perform optimally when clashing with Germany in the second match of Group F of the 2020 European Cup, Saturday (19/6/2021) night WIB. He didn’t want A Selecao to let his guard down because he knew Der Panzer was a strong opponent. Especially with the status as the host.

The Manchester City (Man City) defender said that because currently Portugal is favored over Germany. All of that can not be separated from the 3-0 victory over Hungary in the first match. Meanwhile, Joachim Loew’s fleet was defeated 0-1 by France.

The difference in results is what makes Fernando Santos’ fleet now far superior. However, Dias did not agree with such an opinion because he considered Germany to be one of the strongest teams at Euro 2020.

Even Dias believes that the Portugal vs Germany match at the Allianz Arena tonight will be very fierce. Therefore, he wants the Portuguese players to play seriously and try hard to aim for a second win to qualify for the round of 16.

“We predict that we will face a team with a high level, one of the best at Euro 2020. However, we also fall into that category (the best team at Euro 2020),” Dias said, quoted from the official UEFA website.

Dias did not want the slick results achieved by Portugal at the beginning of the 2020 European Cup to make them off guard against Germany. He would prefer if a positive result against Hungary could be used as a lesson so that he can perform even better when he meets Germany.

We just need to remember we did well. But also don’t forget that we have to play much better to be able to win that game,” Dias said.

If Portugal played with an attitude that remained vigilant and believed they could beat Germany, Dias was also confident that his team could win the second matchday of Group F of the 2020 European Cup. Victory will make Portugal’s chances of qualifying for the last 16 even greater.

Interesting looking forward to the duel between Portugal vs Germany. Especially seeing Cristiano Ronaldo in action in front of Germany’s star players.
