Tottenham Hotspur moved quickly to bring in a new manager for the 2021/2022 season. He is former AS Roma coach Paulo Fonseca.
After sacking Jose Mourinho at the end of April, Tottenham is in search of a new manager. One name had appeared to the public, namely Antonio Conte, who was approached by management.
Unfortunately, Tottenham’s approach ended last week after Conte turned down a contract offer from Chairman Daniel Levy. Tottenham did not wait long to immediately find a replacement.
While waiting for the appointment of a new sporting director, Fabio Paratici, Tottenham immediately approached several names, one of which was Paul Fonseca. Yes, the Portuguese coach was unemployed after his contract was not extended by Roma
Paratici is reportedly Sky Sport Italia already in the city of Milan to finalize his deal with Tottenham. Not only inaugurating Paratici, but Tottenham also negotiated contracts and team plans with Fonseca.
Paulo Fonseca is claimed to have agreed to a three-year contract offered by Tottenham and immediately went black and white. Tottenham does not seem to want to go through the summer without a manager so they can design a program for next season.
Moreover, the presence of a new manager is important to convince Harry Kane to want to stay at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium next season.
Fonseca previously coached Roma from 2019 to 2021. During Fonseca’s management, Roma failed to finish in the top four but was able to advance to the semifinals of the Europa League last season. The Portuguese man had success with Shakhtar Donetsk with three Ukrainian League titles and three Ukrainian Cups.
He has also led Braga to 2015/2016 Taca de Portugal and Porto to the 2013 Portuguese Super Cup.
Tottenham Approach Lilian Thuram’s Son, Are You Ready to Release Kane?
Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly approaching Lilian Thuram’s son, Marcus, who plays as a striker. Is this a sign Harry Kane is ready to be released?
Marcus Thuram played for Borussia Moenchengladbach with 11 goals and 12 assists last season. The player who is also adept at playing as a winger and striker has indeed been a mainstay of Gladbach in the last two seasons with 25 goals and 21 assists from 79 matches.
Unfortunately, Gladbach’s failure to qualify for Europe next season made Thuram start thinking about looking for new challenges. In his contract which runs out in 2023, there is a 30 million euro clause that expires this summer.
Now, with the “sloping price”, Thuram has attracted the attention of many big European clubs, one of which is Tottenham. Tottenham’s new potential sporting director, Fabio Paratici, has reportedly approached the 23-year-old.
Even as reported by RMC Sports, Thuram has been negotiating with Tottenham regarding a possible transfer and has intensified in recent days. Incidentally, Thuram is also defending the French national team.
When his future is confirmed, he can appear calmer at Euro 2020. The arrival of Thuram will add to the tightness of Tottenham’s front line, which is already filled with Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Steven Bergwijn, and Carlos Vinicius.
“For now I’m focused on the French national team and Euro 2020. After the Euros, we’ll see what happens,” said Marcus Thuram when asked about his future.
There is an assumption that Thuram’s arrival is in anticipation of Tottenham if Kane leaves. Because the 28-year-old striker has indicated that he is looking for a new challenge.
Moreover, Kane has never won a trophy with Tottenham despite having scored more than 200 goals. Let’s just wait for the end of this transfer saga.
