Honda Team Focuses on Making Competitive Bikes for MotoGP 2022

Marc Marquez’s victory in the German MotoGP race at the Sachsenring Circuit ended the trend without the Honda rider’s first podium that had been going on since the 2020 season.

But apart from Marc Marquez’s victory, there is one fact that has not changed. It is very evident, the Honda RC213V motorcycle is not friendly to other Honda racers.

Just look at the facts, Marc Marquez’s team record at Repsol Honda, Pol Espargaro felt the best results by only finishing eighth in the MotoGP races of Qatar and France.

The LCR Honda satellite team duo, Takaaki Nakagami, and Alex Marquez also haven’t been able to talk much.

Interviewed by the Speedweek website, Stefan Bradl, who incidentally is a Honda test racer, also gave a leak that his team was no longer focused on recording achievements in MotoGP 2021.

According to him, the Honda team is now focused on developing the Honda RC213V motorbike for the 2022 MotoGP. The target is the motorbike can make all Honda riders appear competitive.

In addition, Stefan Bradl believes that the difficulties experienced by the Honda team are a common phenomenon in MotoGP.

“The main focus (the Honda team) is to develop a new motorbike for 2022. Now it’s July and summer vacation. MotoGP 2021 will continue in August. So obviously, the focus is on 2022,” Stefan Bradl explained.

“A lot of things have been tried. But we haven’t gotten to where we have found something better. Every manufacturer goes through a crisis like this.”

“Yamaha has experienced it, and so did Suzuki in 2017. Ducati has struggled for a long time. When was the last time they became world champions ( MotoGP )? 2007 (via Casey Stoner)?” he added.

It’s no secret that the Honda RC213V motorcycle, the Repsol Honda factory team, and the LCR Honda satellite team are not friendly horses for racers.

There have been many great racers who slack off when riding the Honda RC213V. Like the three-time MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo and all current Honda riders as long as Marc Marquez is injured.

The latest example is felt by the rider who replaced Marc Marquez during the injury, Stefan Bradl. It was so difficult to conquer the Honda RC213V motorbike, the right hand of the German racer had felt numb after participating in the Austrian MotoGP race some time ago.

Even though Stefan Bradl is also not a random racer. He was the 2011 Moto2 world champion. From 2012 to 2016, he was also the premier MotoGP racer and currently serves as Honda’s test rider.

Quoting the Speedweek website, Stefan Bradl’s right hand went numb because the ulnar nerve was too stressed. This nerve is what makes the little finger and ring finger work.

As a result of the above problems, Stefan Bradl had to undergo surgery on his right arm to overcome the arm pump he was suffering from. Because of that, he was absent from participating in the Emilia Romagna MotoGP race.

The fact that a racer of the caliber of Stefan Bradl only had physical problems riding a Honda RC213V did not surprise Cal Crutchlow.

Cal Crutchlow, who has been an LCR Honda racer from the 2015 to 2020 season, said the RC213V motorbike that was difficult to ride was the cause of Stefan Bradl’s right hand going numb.

“I’m not surprised,” said Crutchlow, referring to the physical problems Bradl experienced while riding his Honda RC213V.

Honda’s motorbike moves a lot, has a tendency to wheelie everywhere, and is not easy to ride. If you are not 100 percent fit, it is very difficult,” continued the racer who was rumored to be leaving for Aprilia in MotoGP 2021.

In conclusion, hearing Cal Crutchlow’s description and the physical problems experienced by Stefan Bradl further make it clear how great Marc Marquez is. Yes, Marc is not only competitive with Honda, but can also feel six world championship titles.
