Jerez de la Frontera -In the Spanish MotoGP race , Marc Marquez admitted that he was affected by an accident during free practice. Marquez revealed that he felt devastated. The meaning?
Marquez drove on the Jerez Circuit on Sunday (2/5/2021) to mark his second race in MotoGP in 2021 after being absent for almost a year. However, the eight-time world champion did not have a smooth weekend.
Marquez had a worrying accident at third free practice. During the last lap, the Spanish rider fell at Turn 7 and then crashed into the guardrail. The motorbike was badly damaged, but fortunately the racer was not seriously injured
Marc Marquez then fell again in the warm-up session before finishing the race in ninth place, a worse finishing position than in the Portuguese MotoGP (7). However, Marquez was happy even though finishing ninth was not the target.
The 28-year-old racer feels more comfortable on his ride. Although, accidents in free practice made his conditions less than ideal for racing.
“The most important thing is: I feel better this weekend, but today, okay, I feel devastated but because of the accident yesterday, not about my arm,” said Marquez at Motorsport. “It’s more about the muscles in the back and neck.”
“Also very good because it is improving in a good way. Of course this is not the result I wanted and it is not the target. But this weekend I feel better on the bike, and about the physical condition I have but I suffered less than at Portimao. . ”
“It’s true, yesterday I had a bad accident and we started in 14th position. My neck was locked but this is part of the race. What is clear is that when you start fourteenth, in the early laps you can lose a lot of time, that’s what happens. I started racing and tried to be faster during the laps and that’s what I did. ”
Marc Marquez is now collecting 16 points from two of the four races that have been rolled. Marquez is ranked 15th in the standings , only one point adrift of team-mate Paul Espargaro, who is by far the best Honda rider.
