Tottenham Hotspur closed the 2020/2021 season without a title. However, The Lilywhites can still be a little proud. The reason is, Harry Kane has been named the most fertile player, aka winning the Golden Boot in the Premier League.
Spurs ended the final match with positive results. The London club could beat Leicester City 4-2 at the King Power Stadium. It’s just that, the victory only made Dele Alli et al secure the seventh position with 62 points.
In that away game, Kane contributed one goal in the 41st minute which got back from Jamie Vardy’s penalty. That was enough for him to win the title of most fertile player for the third time in his career.
Kane has now scored 23 goals. The attacker who is said to be leaving Spurs in the summer market defeated Mohamed Salah in the 2020/2021 Premier League top scorer list. The two are only one goal apart.
Salah was unable to add to his tally when Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Anfield. All of the Reds’ goals at Anfield which also resulted in tickets for the Champions League 2021/2022 were donated by Sadio Mane.
What caught the eye were the occupants of the third position. Here is Bruno Fernandes, who is not an attacker. The Manchester United (MU) midfielder was able to gain 18 goals from 37 matches.
In fourth and fifth positions there are Patrick Bamford (Patrick Bamford) and Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur) who both scored 17 goals. In the sixth, there is Everton’s representative, Dominic Calvert-Lewin with 16 goals.
Meanwhile, Jamie Vardy, who became the top scorer for the 2019/2020 season with 23 goals, finished seventh. The Leicester City striker can only score 15 goals. Followed by Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa / 14 goals), Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City / 13 goals), and Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal / 13 goals).
Kane’s achievement is more complete because he is involved in providing the most assists. The England national team member has scored 14 goals for his colleagues in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Man City goalkeeper Ederson has the cleanest sheets 19 times.
During the 2020/2021 Premier League, 12 players can score hat-tricks. Among them are Salah, Riyad Mahrez (Man City), and Son. It’s just that, for Son, he scored four goals when Tottenham beat Southampton 5-2 on 20 September.
