Son Heung-min was really sad because Jose Mourinho failed to achieve success at Tottenham Hotspur . But for Son, Mourinho remains one of the top managers.
Mourinho was ousted from the Spurs manager’s seat after a 2-2 draw at Everton in April. The dismissal of the Portuguese manager came after Spurs were eliminated in the last 16 of the Europa League and struggled to break into the top four of the Premier League.
This decision inevitably tarnished Mourinho’s reputation. The reason is, throughout his career the Special One has never failed to present a championship trophy for the clubs he has coached; starting from Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and finally Manchester United.
Son Heung-min performed brilliantly under Jose Mourinho with 29 goals and 25 assists in 70 games. Son has a good relationship with Mourinho, although some of his teammates are reported to have disliked the controversial coach.
“It’s always sad when someone loses his job,” Son told TV3 Sport , quoted by TeamTalk. “I don’t want to talk about it too much either, I’ve worked with him for 18 months.”
“During that time we had moments of ups and downs, sometimes in good moments, sometimes not that great,” continued the South Korean football star.
“For me, for my memory, he will remain one of the best managers in the world. It’s just sad that he left without achieving success. Very sad because he was the one who won everything.”
” Tottenham is the only team where he failed to achieve success so I’m very, very sorry about this. But he remains in my memory, he is one of the best managers in the world,” said Son Heung-min of Jose Mourinho .
Mourinho now has a new job. He will train AS Roma from next season.
