The Netherlands won over Georgia in a friendly ahead of Euro 2020. De Oranje won with a convincing score of 3-0.
In the match at De Grolsch Veste, Sunday (6/6/2021) night WIB, the Netherlands had opened the scoring in the 10th minute. Memphis Depay gave the Netherlands the lead through a penalty.
The Netherlands received a penalty following a foul by Lasha Dvali on Denzel Dumfries. Depay, who then stepped forward as the executor, successfully carried out his duties after his kick which led to the bottom right corner of the Georgia goal could not be anticipated by Giorgi Loria
Depay almost doubled the Dutch lead five minutes later. Dumfries’ cross was continued by Depay who stretched out his leg. However, Loria can still parry the ball.
The new Dutch added a goal in the 55th minute. Wout Weghorst received a through ball from Depay and beat Loria to score his first goal for the Dutch national team.
Ryan Gravenberch then solidified the Dutch victory by scoring a goal in the 76th minute. He headbutted the ball in front of the goal after taking advantage of the throw-up ball from Depay’s shot which was parried by the Georgia goalkeeper.
For the Netherlands, this will be the last test match before appearing in the 2020 European Cup. Frank de Boer’s team is in Group C with Ukraine, Austria, and North Macedonia.

Virgil van Dijk was not completely absent at Euro 2020.
The Dutch national team gave a new role to the 29-year-old defender during the tournament.
Having only played five times in the Premier League, he had to be sidelined until the end of the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury suffered in the Everton vs Liverpool match in October
He has not fully recovered until now. He holds the status of the captain of the Netherlands.
Although he was unable to register van Dijk for the tournament, Dutch coach Frank de Boer did not immediately leave his team. Not only was he allowed to train with his teammates, but de Boer also gave him a position as a non-official staff, as reported by the Daily Mirror.
Reportedly, the presence of van Dijk has a positive influence on the Dutch squad. He was also present to watch the Netherlands match during a trial against Scotland on 2 June.
The team loves his presence,” said de Boer.
He has played 38 times for the Oranje team since he was first called up in 2015 and has scored 4 goals but has never appeared in a major tournament.
