The Citizens have been linked with Harry Kane, but Tammy Abraham could be an attractive option for these reasons.
One Man City striker post vacant after Sergio Aguero completed the contract. The Argentine crossed to Barcelona.
Man City officials have promised to find a suitable replacement. There are several names that are linked, Erling Haaland to Harry Kane who is rumored to be.
For Kane, Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly willing to release the England captain. However, the tag of 165 million pounds sterling will be a big obstacle to get the 27-year-old player.
Former Man City player, Trevor Sinclair, gave advice to The Citizens. He had previously offered Abraham’s name to be recruited to become a new front-line player.
“Yes, I did. He’s a fairly young player and with the coaching ability that Pep Guardiola has, and the team-mates around him, he’s a top player,” Sinclair told Talksport.
According to him, Tammy Abraham has shown good ability. His speed and finishing in front of goal, said Sinclair, was topnotch. In addition, Abraham is still a few years younger than Kane, who is 27 years old and has the opportunity to continue to grow.
But Tammy can still improve a lot. He is someone I really want to see at Manchester City,” he added.
With Chelsea, Abraham lost to Kai Havertz and Timo Werner. He played 32 times and contributed 12 goals, becoming a member of the team that won the Champions League.
Advice for City: Better to buy Abraham than Kane
Manchester City has been given advice on their search for a new striker this summer. Rather than chasing the expensive Harry Kane, Tammy Abraham is much cheaper and will be just as good.
The city did have to find a new striker after the departure of Sergio Aguero. It is not an easy task to find a replacement for a player who has become the club’s all-time top scorer.
Moreover, Aguero’s contribution is not only goals but also a series of prestigious titles at the domestic level, especially five Premier League titles. So City is likely to dismantle the piggy bank in order to get a commensurate replacement.
Harry Kane is City’s main target although it is not easy to get him. Tottenham Hotspur, as Kane’s owner, is still adamant about not letting him go.
Even if Kane wants to be sold, interested clubs like Manchester City and others must pay a minimum of 160 million pounds. The number is relatively high in the midst of the current coronavirus pandemic
Therefore, City is also advised to look for an alternative attacker that is cheaper and of course younger. That requirement is actually owned by Tammy Abraham, who is reportedly going to be released by Chelsea.
Abraham was the club’s top scorer with 12 goals last season but has only started three times since Thomas Tuchel became manager. At only 23 years old, Abraham still has plenty of time to develop and could even be even better than Kane.
“Of course (I would choose Tammy Abraham over Harry Kane ),” said City player Trevor Sinclair in an interview with talkSPORT.
He is very useful, he is fast, he is able to attract opponents, he is also a great finisher.”
But Tammy can still develop. I’m curious to see him join Manchester City,” concluded Sinclair, who defended Manchester City in 2003-2007.
