Tottenham Hotspur won convincingly 4-0 over Sheffield United . Gareth Bale became the star of The Lilywhites’ victory after making a hat-trick.
Tottenham host Sheffield United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the 34th Premier League match on Monday (3/5/2021) early morning Western Indonesian Time. Ryan Mason’s troops appeared dominant throughout the 90 minutes.
They recorded 66.8 per cent of ball possession against Sheffield’s 33.2 per cent. The Spurs also battled The Blades’ defense by making 20 shots with 11 on target . Sheffield only made one shoot on target from 8 attempts
From that many opportunities, Tottenham can score four goals through Gareth Bale’s hat-trick (36th, 61st and 69th minutes) and Son Heun-Min’s goal (77 ‘). This victory brought Tottenham into fifth place with 56 points.
They are five points behind Chelsea in fourth place. Meanwhile, Sheffield, who has been confirmed for relegation, is sinking at the bottom of the standings with 17 points.
The course of the match
Tottenham appeared to be pressing from the start of the match. They almost took the lead in the 17th minute. However, Harry Kane’s cheating was cleared by Chris Basham right at the goal line.
The Lillywhites finally opened their doors in the 36th minute. Serge Aurier’s chip feed frees Gareth Bale from the offside trap.
The Welshman then calmly beat Aaron Ramsdale. Tottenham winning 1-0.
The score lasted until halftime. The situation was not much different in the second half with Tottenham remaining dominant.
The hosts scored the second goal through Son Heung-min using Toby Alderweireld’s pass in the 51st minute. However, the goal was later disallowed after the referee reviewed the VAR because Son was offside.
Tottenham’s second goal was actually born in the 61st minute. Bale drove unchecked after receiving a ball from Son.

Bale packs a hat-trick in the 69th minute. Starting from Sergi Aurier’s stab on the right side, this Ivory Coast player then thrust the ball into Bale.
Bale immediately took off a hard kick right in front of the Sheffield penalty box. Bale kicked the ball into the nets of The Blades to bring Tottenham ahead.
Tottenham’s goal has not stopped. It was Son’s turn to score a beautiful goal in the 77th minute. He curled a shot from outside the penalty box into the left corner of the Ramsdale goal.
Tottenham closed the match with a 4-0 win.
