Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte will again be involved in the competition. This time, they met in Serie A or the highest caste of the Italian League.
On Tuesday (4/5/2021), AS Roma appointed Jose Mourinho as their new coach next season, replacing Paulo Fonseca.
Jose Mourinho’s return to the Italian League then made many parties remember his rivalry with Antonio Conte, who is currently in charge of Inter Milan.
The two coaches were involved in competition when they were both careers in the Premier League for the 2016-2018 period.
Mourinho at that time coached Manchester United, while Antonio Conte sat in the chair of the Chelsea coach.
The two of them even fought on the sidelines of the field until they threw sarcasm at each other.
The rivalry between Mourinho and Conte in the Italian League was also commented on by Gianfranco Zola. The Chelsea legend revealed that the two tactics had two things in common.
“I believe they are different. They are good coaches, but different,” Zola was quoted as saying by Football Italia.
“What they have in common is that both of them are very demanding and have extraordinary personalities,” said Gianfranco Zola.
Furthermore, Zola believes that Mourinho’s presence can be a big boost for AS Roma.
“I hope Italian football will find Mourinho’s level at its best,” he said.
“It’s a different situation when he coached Inter, but we are talking about a coach at the highest level.”
“He will be able to adapt to the situation. He is a person who can provide a lot for Roma,” said Zola.
As for Antonio Conte, he has spoken about the appointment of Jose Mourinho as AS Roma coach.
He also wishes Mourinho the best, except when dealing with Inter Milan.
“This is great news for everyone, I wish him all the best, except for the time he played against Inter,” said Conte.
Will they hug each other when they meet after the match?
“To be sure, there is great respect between us,” said the Italian coach.
